Physiotherapy course
in geriatrics
Neuro-geriatric assessment, balance and falls prevention, physical reconditioning: an online course designed by Bryan Littré and Lucas Meilhou, eligible for FIFPL and Pro-Q Kiné funding.
In brief
Ageing changes both the assessment and the treatment: neurological syndromes, balance, frailty. Physio Learning offers a dedicated course in neuro-geriatrics, delivered online and eligible for funding from the FIFPL, the French training fund for self-employed practitioners, and from Pro-Q Kiné, the Belgian quality programme for physiotherapists, with a full axis of the skills web so you can track your hours.
What this covers, in practical terms
Structuring a full neuro-geriatric assessment, evaluating balance and putting exercise-based treatment in place for older patients, whether after a stroke, with Parkinson’s disease or living with frailty: that is the heart of this field.
The pathway covers the major neurological syndromes, balance assessment and falls prevention, strengthening and physical reconditioning, through to practical workshops on balance exercises.
Geriatrics, a recognised area of practice
“Rééducation en gériatrie”, rehabilitation in geriatrics, is one of the areas of practice recognised by the Conseil national de l'Ordre des masseurs-kinésithérapeutes (opinion of 30 March 2021, under the heading “Rééducation des troubles liés à l'âge / en gériatrie”).
Training regularly in this field means building up your hours in this area of practice, course after course. The Physio Learning app records those hours in your skills web, axis by axis, as each course is completed.
The conditions under which an area of practice is recognised are a matter for the Ordre des masseurs-kinésithérapeutes.
Select courses and project your hours towards the speciality. 80 h is the milestone we set ourselves, so that a speciality is genuinely within reach with our catalogue.
