Vertigo and balance Assess, triage, refer

300 000 episodes of vertigo a week: the 3rd most common reason for seeing a GP is still, far too often, a diagnosis left hanging. Because the word « vertigo » is hard to define and patients struggle to be heard, mastering the keys to its management is crucial. This course was designed precisely to turn that clinical difficulty into expertise: learn to decode the symptoms, run the right tests and refer to the right professional, so you can offer an answer and a listening ear that fit, and get patients with vertigo out of diagnostic limbo.

Why this course?

An online course to better understand the patient who tells you "I feel dizzy, everything is spinning"... Suitable for every healthcare professional.

La formation en situation

Triage so you know where to refer.

Can you really tell the difference between the various types of vertigo (peripheral, central, vascular, neurological or sensory)?

This course will teach you to tell apart every dizzy sensation and the different types of vertigo seen in the clinic by every professional . The aim is to put words on a term that is sometimes used to describe anything and everything, without turning you into a vestibular specialist.

The aim: refer, make care safe, and get some patients out of diagnostic limbo by securing their care and communicating with the specialists involved (ENT, neurologists). Because vertigo is not always benign, not always serious, and not always in the head!

100% EBP criteria and practical cases you can put to work in the clinic tomorrow, whatever your profession.

Your practice today

  • Doubts about the origin of the vertigo (central vs peripheral)
  • Unease when the sensation itself makes no sense
  • Fear of missing a serious adverse event (stroke)
  • Rough-and-ready triage of balance disorders

After the course

  • Precise spotting of warning signs and of patients left adrift
  • Clinical assessment fully mastered
  • Safer care and reduced risk
  • Fast, justified and relevant medical referral

Learning outcomes
